Save Your Marriage Using Only Hormone Therapies

Because hormonal imbalances suffered during PMS, peri-menopause, menopause, and andropause (known as male menopause) impact your emotions, mental health, and physical well-being, they can wreak havoc on your relationships, especially your marriage.

Think about it. Have you ever had a heated argument with your partner that, in retrospect, seemed out of proportion to the situation? Has your partner ever complained about how your foul moods impact their feelings of affection toward you? Do you ever feel that despite a deep sense of love, attraction, and affection toward your partner, you’re just plain not interested in sex anymore?

It’s entirely possible that issues like these are not the result of lack of communication, respect, or attraction. Instead, they could be the result of a hormonal imbalance.

Symptoms of Hormonal Imbalance in Women

While it’s normal for hormone levels to shift at different points in your life, the result can often lead to symptoms that frustrate and confuse you. PMS, peri-menopause, or menopause may be to blame, but it’s important to remember that some medications and health issues can affect hormone balance as well.

Women who suffer from a hormonal imbalance may exhibit any or all of the following symptoms:

  • Irregular periods. This can be a sign of too much or too little estrogen and progesterone. If you’re in your 40s or early 50s, it can indicate perimenopause.
  • Loss of sexual desire. When testosterone (found in both women and men) levels decline, you might experience a loss of libido or sexual desire.
  • Foggy thinking. Changes in estrogen and progesterone levels can affect brain chemicals, resulting in memory problems and difficulty thinking clearly.
  • Fatigue. Excessive levels of progesterone can result in feeling tired all the time. Low levels of thyroid hormones can also bring about fatigue.
  • Moodiness and depression. Brain chemicals that impact mood like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine can be altered by low estrogen levels, leaving you feeling moody or depressed.
  • Insomnia, difficulty getting to sleep, or difficulty staying asleep. Low levels of progesterone may be the culprit here. Additionally, low estrogen levels can trigger hot flashes and night sweats.
  • Chronic skin problems. Chronic acne, outside the time before or during your period, could signal an excess of androgens, resulting in an overworking of your oil glands and clogged pores.
  • Stomach issues. When estrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate, it can bring about changes in the way you digest your food, including diarrhea, stomach pain, bloating, and nausea.
  • Weight gain. When estrogen levels dip, it can impact your appetite which can result in weight gain.
  • Headaches. Dips in estrogen levels can bring on headaches, especially right before or during your period.

Symptoms of Hormonal Imbalance in Men

Though you don’t hear about it nearly as often, men can suffer from a condition known as andropause, or “male menopause.” Fluctuations in hormone levels can lead to feelings of diminished energy, stamina, and reduced mental function. But unlike women, for whom fluctuating hormone levels can come about rapidly, men experience a more gradual shift in hormone levels as they age.

Men who suffer from a hormonal imbalance may exhibit any or all of the following symptoms:

  • Weight gain. Excess estrogen can cause extra weight around the breasts, hips, and abdomen.
  • Low libido. Too much estrogen or low levels of testosterone can lead to diminished sexual desire, infertility, and erectile dysfunction.
  • Increase risk of stroke, heart attack, and prostate cancer. The risk of life-threatening conditions such as these can manifest when a man has increased levels of estrogen.
  • Muscle weakness. Too little testosterone can make it difficult to recover from exercise. It can also bring about feelings of fatigue.
  • Moodiness and depression. As with women, fluctuating hormone levels, in this case, testosterone, can lead to mood swings and depression in men.
  • Osteoporosis. Low levels of testosterone can result in weak bones and osteoporosis.
  • Hair loss. Though hair loss can be attributed to genetics, it can also be the result of low levels of testosterone.

How Hormonal Imbalance Impacts Your Relationship

Given all the symptoms that might be present in both men and women when experiencing fluctuations in hormone levels, it’s little wonder that hormone imbalances will affect:

  • Mood
  • Memory
  • Sexual desire
  • Temperament

These, of course, can have a serious impact on a relationship or marriage. Constant arguing, moodiness, lack of intimacy, and feelings of anger could pollute what was once a healthy and thriving partnership. Finding a way to address and reverse these imbalances may very well prove critical to maintaining the relationship.

How Hormone Therapy Can Save Your Marriage

While talk therapy and counseling may unearth some issues that need to be addressed, hormone therapy (HT) can get to the root of problems like irritability, impatience, disproportionate rage, moodiness, and lack of sexual desire.

And while HT won’t reverse the aging process, many recipients report a sense of renewed energy along with many other benefits:
Women who have undergone HT report:

  • Improved libido
  • Increased energy
  • Clearer thinking
  • Easing of menopause symptoms
  • Improved vaginal health
  • Easing symptoms of early menopause after hysterectomy
  • Decrease in bone loss after menopause

Men who have undergone HT report:

  • Improved libido
  • Increased energy
  • Reduced risk of heart disease
  • Acceleration of fat burning for increased weight loss
  • Improved sleep
  • Reduction in depression
